A large, plain, light room in Dharamkot with the desk exactly where you would put it yourself: against the window. Sit down to work and you are looking over the balcony rail at the hills and a wide strip of sky. Open the door beside it and you are on the balcony, where two chairs face a ridge thick with deodar.

The room has a double bed, a tall wardrobe and a second table for everything that is not work. The kitchen has a gas hob, a sink and enough pans and plates to cook properly. When the Dhauladhar has snow on it, the view from the property is the last photo on this page.

Safety in Dharamkot

Dharamkot has hosted long-stay travellers for decades, and the cafes on the main lane stay open until about 11 at night.
