Terms of use

These terms apply when you use workfromhills.co or book a stay through Work From Hills ("we", "us"). By sending a booking request, paying an invoice or using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who we are

Work From Hills is owned and run by Sarthak, from 530R Model Town, Panipat, Haryana 132103, India. You can reach us at hello@workfromhills.co or on +91 70827 39903.

What we do, and what the partner does

We list homes and rooms that belong to independent owners and hosts, whom we call partners. We take your booking request, confirm it with the partner, and collect payment for the stay.

The partner provides the stay. We do not own, run or manage any home on the site, and partners are not our employees or agents. Your contract for the accommodation is with the partner. Our part is the booking service described in these terms.

Who can book

  • You must be 18 or older and able to enter a contract.
  • The details you give us must be true and current.
  • You are responsible for everyone staying with you, and for making sure they follow these terms and the house rules.

How a booking is made

  • Sending a request is not a booking. We check the dates with the partner and then send you an invoice.
  • The booking is confirmed only when we receive the amount due on the invoice, by the date shown on it. If payment does not arrive by then, the request lapses and the home goes back on offer.
  • We or the partner may turn down any request without giving a reason.
  • Prices are in Indian rupees. A price on the site can change until your invoice is issued. If a price on the site is plainly a mistake, we may correct it before the booking is confirmed.
  • Any tax that applies is shown on the invoice.
  • The shortest stay we book is one week.

Payment

You pay by the method named on the invoice. For stays longer than a month, the invoice says what is due before you move in and what is due each month after that. If a monthly payment is more than three days late, the partner may end the stay, and nothing already paid is refunded.

Anything charged separately, such as electricity by the meter, heating or meals, is stated on the listing or the invoice. You settle those with the partner unless the invoice says otherwise.

Cancellations and refunds

Our cancellation and refund policy is part of these terms. In short: you can cancel for a refund up to 14 days before move-in for stays of one or two weeks, and up to 30 days before move-in for longer stays. After that the first 30 nights are not refundable, and that is the most you can lose.

During your stay

  • Every adult must show a government photo ID when they arrive. Foreign nationals must show a passport and a valid visa, which the partner is required by law to record and report.
  • Only the people named in the booking may stay. Ask before you bring anyone else.
  • Follow the partner's house rules, including check-in and check-out times, and respect the neighbours. Many of these homes are in small villages.
  • Do not sublet the home, use it for events or commercial shoots, or do anything illegal there.
  • Leave the home as you found it. You pay for damage and missing items beyond ordinary wear, and the partner may take the cost from any security deposit.
  • If you seriously break the house rules or the law, the partner may ask you to leave at once, and nothing is refunded.
  • Your belongings are your own responsibility during the stay.

What we check, and what we cannot promise

We check each home before it is listed, and we describe it as we found it. Every internet speed on the site is a measurement taken on the date shown next to it. It tells you what the connection can do. It is not a guarantee of the speed on any given day.

Life in the hills comes with interruptions. Internet, mobile signal, electricity, water and roads can all fail because of weather, landslides, repairs or a provider's fault. Neither we nor the partner can guarantee that any of them will be uninterrupted. If your work depends on being online, keep a second connection, such as mobile data on a different network.

Photos show the home when they were taken. Views depend on the season and the weather, and furniture or fittings may change.

Booking through us

Partners list with us on the understanding that people who find them here book here. For 12 months after you enquire about or stay at a home you found through us, you agree to make any booking, extension or repeat stay at that home through us and not directly with the partner. If you book directly in that period, we may refuse future bookings from you and recover from you the commission we would have earned on that stay.

Guides and other information on the site

Our guides to towns, routes, costs and seasons are general information, written with care but not checked daily. Fares, timetables, permits, road conditions and opening hours change. Confirm anything important with the operator or the authority concerned before you rely on it.

Travel in the mountains

You travel and stay at your own risk. Mountain travel involves altitude, cold, steep paths, wildlife, rough roads and long distances from large hospitals. Check that the place suits your health and your plans, and buy travel and medical insurance that covers it.

Our liability

As far as the law allows:

  • We are not liable for the acts or omissions of partners or of anyone else at or near a home, or for injury, illness, death, theft, or loss of or damage to belongings during a stay.
  • We are not liable for indirect losses. These include lost income or work, missed calls or deadlines, and travel or accommodation costs.
  • We are not liable for anything caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as weather, natural disasters, road closures, outages, strikes or government action.
  • Our total liability to you for any booking is limited to the amount you paid us for that booking.

Nothing in these terms removes a right or a liability that Indian law does not allow to be removed.

If you cause a loss

You agree to cover any loss, claim or cost that we or a partner face because you or someone in your group broke these terms, the house rules or the law, or damaged the home.

Using the site

  • The text, photos, speed tests and design on this site belong to us or to our partners. You may not copy, scrape or republish them without our written permission.
  • Do not misuse the site, send false requests, or try to get around its security.
  • We try to keep the site accurate and available, but we do not promise that it will be free of errors or always online.

Your personal information

Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. The terms in force on the day you paid your invoice are the ones that apply to that booking.

Complaints

If something has gone wrong, tell us and give us the chance to fix it. Our grievance officer is Sarthak. We acknowledge every complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within one month.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Panipat, Haryana have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them or about a booking.

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still apply. These terms, the cancellation and refund policy, the privacy policy and your invoice together are the whole agreement between you and us.
