Dharamkot hangs above McLeod Ganj with the Dhauladhar in your face and a long-settled crowd of people who came for a week and stayed a season. You climb a steep hill for groceries, and the last stretch to most doors is on foot.

- How to reach. Overnight Delhi bus to Dharamshala, 12 to 13 hours, then a taxi up. Or fly to Gaggal.
- Where to stay. Lower Dharamkot for a short carry, Upper Dharamkot for quiet. Distances, rents and what to ask a host.
- Things to do. Tushita sits, yoga from ₹5,500, walks to Bhagsu and Naddi, and McLeod Ganj 2 km down the road.
