Cloud drifting through a steep forest of dark conifers

A hack week with nothing between the team and the work.

Take one hard problem somewhere quiet, with clean air and a long view, for a week. The internet is tested, the power is backed up, the food arrives, and the only meeting is the demo.

Length
4 to 7 nights
Group
4 to 14 people
Price
By proposal

Who it is for

One problem, one team, no meetings.

  • A product or engineering team with one thing to ship
  • A founding team before a launch or a raise
  • An internal hackathon that deserves better than a conference room

An example plan

How the days could run.

  1. Day 0

    Night bus

Overnight Volvo from Delhi. Sleep on the way up.

  2. Day 1

    Set up and kick off

Breakfast on arrival and rooms by mid-morning. After lunch: the problem, the teams, the rules. First commits before dinner.

  3. Day 2

    Build

The whole day in the work room. Meals and tea come to you. A short walk at sunset to clear heads, then back to it for those who want to.

  4. Day 3

    Build, then show

Work until four. Demos at five on the big screen. Bonfire and a long dinner after.

  5. Day 4

    Out of the room

A late start, a guided walk, lunch out. Night bus home, or stay on and keep building.

This is one way to do it. Your proposal is built around what your team needs from the time.

What we arrange

Handled before you arrive.

Internet you can plan on
Wifi tested across the B&B in advance with the result on record, and a second mobile network in the work room as backup.
Power
Power backup for the work room and the router, extension boards at every seat.
The room
Long tables, proper chairs, a screen for stand-ups and demos, a whiteboard, good light.
Fuel
Meals at set times without anyone leaving, tea and snacks on a table all day, a late kitchen on demo night.

Before you ask

What happens if the internet goes down mid-week?

The work room has a second connection on a different mobile network, and the router and room are on power backup. Hill towns still have the odd outage, so if you have a fixed live launch that week, tell us and we plan the days around it.

Can we extend if the team is on a roll?

Often, yes. Tell us by day three and we check the rooms. It is easier outside peak season.

Do you supply monitors and other kit?

A screen for demos, a whiteboard and extension boards are standard. For extra monitors or anything unusual, tell us when you enquire and we will say what we can source locally.

Is it only for engineers?

No. Design sprints, writing weeks and strategy sprints run the same way. The format is a team, a deadline and no interruptions.

Tell us about the team.

Sarthak reads every request himself and replies within two working days with a place, a day-by-day plan and one figure per person.
